SCHOOL RESIDENCIES
UNSUNG STORIES of the CIVIL WAR RESIDENCY
These residencies use music from the original production Unsung Stories of the Civil War to present a cross disciplinary program about the Civil War related to history, literature, geography music and health curricula. The final day has a presentation by the students for classmates and family members, often including student instrumental ensembles as well.

KIDS SONGS RESIDENCY
By involving the entire class in brainstorming, a unique song is born. A fast paced exercise in logic, organization and the reality of a child's world & interests, this democratic songwriting process creates an awareness of self, ability and success. What is revealed to the participants is that the initial ideas need to be developed; paying full attention gets results. Flexibility is essential and hard work is rewarding. Younger children or students with a minimal knowledge of music focus on the structure of a song, possible styles and the process of translating original ideas into lyrics. During the workshop, groups of up to 30 students create original songs. This size limit is necessary so that each child can participate actively.

STUDIO In The SCHOOL RESIDENCY 
Musician & composer Bruce Burnside is the lead presenter for these innovative residencies which introduce up to 25 music students to songwriting, composing and the work required to produce multi-track recordings. The twelve day workshop is scheduled at intervals in three day sessions. The final session includes an experienced audio engineer and equipment for the recording sessions. 
Twelve days, divided into three date sessions presented at intervals over three to four months.

COMBINED RESIDENCY

Basic songwriting and Civil War curriculum based residencies are often offered on a five day schedule. A good choice for schools that are planning a Forgotten Wisdom residency for the first time.
